This is a delicious and easy recipe that’s great on cold winter days. Try to use fresh ingredients when possible but you can use frozen or canned items if you wish.

Creamed Broccoli and Mushroom Soup

  • 3 cups water
  • 2 cups chopped broccoli
  • 8 ounces mushrooms, sliced
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1 cup nonfat dry milk powder
  • 1 (10.75 ounce) can condensed Cheddar cheese soup
  • 2 dashes hot sauce
  • 1/8 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 1 dash garlic powder


In a large pot, mix the water, broccoli, mushrooms, and butter. Bring to a boil, reduce heat to low, and simmer 5 minutes, until broccoli is tender. Mix in milk powder, soup, hot sauce, pepper, and garlic powder. Continue cooking, stirring frequently, until heated through.
